Movie Maker 1 - The Basics

Staff Development Course Offering - Fall 06 - Hilton Central Schools

Description

Are you tired of Power Point slide shows? Are you looking for a different way to use digital pictures, digital videos, and presentation skills? Is the next Stephen Spielberg or Ken Burns just waiting to be discovered in your classroom? Movie Maker offers an interesting tool to use in the classroom. Students can create professional-looking video content complete with voiceovers, transitions and text effects. Digital still images, music, and digital video clips can be used. Movie Maker projects help students learn to prioritize and organize tasks, develop team skills, and provide a perfect vehicle for exploring real-world issues and their relationship to the curriculum. Participants will learn to use Movie Maker for a variety of curriculum related projects.

Participation

This session will focus on basic skills such as importing images or video, adding transitions, video effects, titles and credits. Basic editing skills will be covered and participants will create a short finished movie. The use of music and narrations will be introduced but will be covered in more depth in the follow-up to this class, Movie Maker 2 â€“ Beyond the Basics â€“ Digital Storytelling.
